Says Hendro Botes, owner, Afri Eco Resorts: “The project was initiated to bring a long-held dream to life – creating a luxurious camping resort that immerses guests in the breathtaking natural beauty of Wilderness. It involved the construction of nine luxury camp sites, each featuring a 6 x 9-meter Terracrete permeable concrete paver platform. The platforms are surrounded by two wooden decks, each equipped with a wood-fired hot tub. Additional amenities include an umbrella, two pool loungers, a table with six chairs, a fire pit, and a braai.”

Botes adds that the Terracrete permeable was chosen based on the recommendation of our environmental officer, who recognized the benefits of using Terraforce blocks for environmental sustainability and durability: “The installation process involved excavating each site, laying stable foundations with stabilised sand, gravel and topped off with 200mm concrete, building perimeter walls to hold in place the additional sand infill, and lastly, installing the Terracrete blocks onto 150mm gravel. Special methods used included reinforcing the perimeter walls with steel and cutting blocks to fit around edges and poles. In total, 4500 Terracrete permeable pavers were used”

Where luxury meets conservation, every detail matters. These innovative pavers allow water to flow naturally while maintaining the structural integrity our guests need. Botes agrees: “One of the most interesting aspects of this project is the way it combines luxury and sustainability, providing guests with an unparalleled camping experience while minimizing the resort’s environmental footprint.”
