7/2011 – Terraforce display gets a new look
Cape Town Building Centre gets a new home
After 53 years, the Cape Town Building Centre moved to a new home in July in a custom-designed building at Northgate Estate, which necessitated a new look stand for Terraforce.
Holger Rust, the owner of Terraforce, says: “The new display is more compact, and now the entire display can be viewed at a glance and, of course, we stuck to our signature green to highlight our focus on green building, accentuated by the generous addition of plants to the display.”
The centre needed more space to accommodate the increasingly wide range of building products. “The new site is ideal because it is clearly visible from the N1 at a point just after the highway branches off from the Koeberg interchange,” says Jamie Heathcote-Marks, the centre’s general manager.
“Also, Northgate Estate is a communal hub known throughout the Cape Peninsula for its ability to attract building product manufacturers, suppliers and customers. Recent visits by Building Centre staff to Northgate Estate on a Saturday morning showed that several thousand shoppers visit there over the weekend,” she says.
Cheryl Neave, the centre’s public relations and marketing manager, says the centre will occupy 800m² in the new building, which is owned by Michelle Mancini of Floratelli Kitchens, whose showroom will be next to the centre.
“The Italian architect Flavio Manzo has designed a vast, light-filled interior with full-length glazing on two sides. With the aid of the Building Centre team, careful attention has been paid to incorporate sustainable building needs in the construction of the building,” she says. “We have tried to conform to energy-saving principles and construction conditions of resources as far as possible.”
The new site was officially launched in November, when industry role players were invited to an event at the new centre. For directions or enquiries, phone the Building Centre on 021 510 4000 or send an e-mail to bc@new.co.za.
