5/2022 – Introducing Terraforce Four x Four® Step block caps, available in the WC, South Africa

Early 2022, Durbanville Preparatory School elected to upgrade its sports facilities by reorganizing one large field on a slope into a sports facility with two new Astro turfs and two grassed fields which are terraced on different slope levels.

The client had seen similar school projects using the Terraforce 4×4 Step™ block and had used Terraforce blocks for retaining and access stairs previously. Decorton Retaining Systems, with many years of experience in installing 4×4 Step block stairs and seating applications, was called on board. Together with Klamputs Concrete, licensed Terraforce block manufacturer in the Western Cape, they produced the Terraforce® cap for the L12 and as a first – a custom cap for the 4×4 Step™ block, a special request from the client.

We are thus proud to present the L12 cap and the 4×4 Step block cap now available as an add-on to finish top row block segments and the ends of stairs rows and seating where necessary.

The planned 4×4 step block seating necessitated some fine cutting and first-time installation of the 4×4 Step Cap. Some challenges encountered on site where the extremely long seating levels, as these needed to drop considerably. The blocks were also filled with dry concrete mix for additional reinforcement. Overall, 10 000 4×4 Step Blocks, 3200 L12 blocks and approximately 150 caps were used on site. The seating is also slightly sloped to allow water run off over the different levels of sports fields.
