Maxiforce - continued

To this end it was necessary to conduct rigorous

laboratory testing pertaining to interblock shear resistance, whole block compressive strength and geogrid pullout resistance. In the pullout tests, the primary mode of failure was rupture of the geogrid outside the blocks and performance was found to be above average, based on experience with a large number of systems tested over many years.

It was thus shown that the "grip" or positive mechanical connection obtained by clamping geogrid between blocks filled with coarse gravel is virtually unbeatable. The designer, having chosen a geosynthetic of optimal strength, can rely on Maxiforce2000 to specify the correct spacing and length. Wall angles can vary as required.

Maxiforce2000 is based on previous Terraforce design manuals (1991 and 1995) and the N.C.M.A design manual (1993) and is also in compliance with I.B.C 2000 ( International Building Code) as described in Evaluation Report 5448 of 2002 (Terraforce L 18 blocks) by International Conference of Building Officials.
