Proposed small lake protection
using Terraforce L13/L18 units
The
easily erodible banks of a small lake with a fluctuating
water table were protected as follows:
A foundation/erosion control apron of
gravel wrapped in heavy duty woven geo-fabric was installed.
Terraforce L13 blocks with a geofabric
backing combined with coarse drainage backfill were built
to a height of approx. 1,5m.
With interlocking hardwood stakes (alt.50mm
HDPE pipe) installed, the blocks were filled with a graded
gravel/soil mix.
The sloping embankment above some of
the walls was packed with grass blocks on geofabric.
The vability of every such project
will have to be confirmed by a suitably qualified engineer.
